Hello and Welcome to Keep it Simple Yoga!

The Philosophy at Keep it Simple Yoga – A note from the owner, Charlotte Johnston.

We live in a fast paced busy world with so many distractions.  It’s easy to become overscheduled, overworked, overstimulated and exhausted.  I am always trying to find ways to slow down, simplify and make the best use of my time and energy.  This is not easy with two small kids and running a business.  Often I have to let things go, and say no to things that I might be interested in but simply do not have the time.  Sometimes I have to put myself first and sometimes I have to choose rest above all else.
How does this philosophy apply on the yoga mat?  My yoga practice and teaching style has evolved in similar ways as my life.  I’ve had to let go of certain yoga poses and practices because they are not the best use of my time and energy.  Personally, if I make the time to do a yoga practice or go to a yoga class I want to relieve stress and tension, improve strength, build muscle, and get out of my head for a while. I want to be challenged physically in a safe and supportive environment. I want to improve flexibility and feel relaxed and restored afterwards.  This may sound like a tall order but it’s exactly what you get from a well-designed yoga class.
This is what we aim to do at Keep it Simple Yoga.  We strive to make our yoga accessible to as many bodies as possible.  We offer an opportunity to challenge yourself in a non-competitive environment where you can begin at any level and practice however you feel on any given day.  And for those who just want to restore and regroup we offer Gentle Yoga classes that are truly a delight. Showing up is always the hardest part and at Keep it Simple Yoga we respect this effort and your time.  So just show up, do what feels right for your body and let the rest go.
